Is Jet Set Radio HD's tutorial really all that impossible? I briefly looked at this on the Dreamcast, and did try this on the PC (which has some big problems). What about the PS3 version...?

I swear to gosh, this port has some issues, which I'll go into later. Anyhow, there is a tutorial in this game and you always play as Beat -- the supposed Main Character-- during it. Completing the tutorial originally had no benefits, however in the HD version of the game, completing it unlocks a song and a trophy.

The huge problem with this tutorial is that the controls are rather prohibitive. You really need to get a feel of how your character moves or jumps before you get the hang of the game. Returning veterans (like myself) might have an easier time with the Xbox 360 version.

The on-screen instructions explain the controls fairly well. But to complete this tutorial, you need to pull off 10, 30 and 50 consecutive tricks in a row. Doing that in this area is a little bit more than just annoying. I decided to play through the Tutorial once more and have a second look while getting a feel of the controls on the PS3 (since this version has way less audio issues compared to the PC, in my experience).

Railing is a key element in this game. It's how you string tricks together and score points in a chain-like fashion. Your speed on a rail will determine if you jump, or jump while preforming a trick.

One big element that many people didn't get to grasp was turns, which is briefly explained WRONG in this tutorial (Down-Up, not Up-Down). You can spin 180° and preform other tricks. These turned tricks tend to be of the more cosmetically appealing variety, especially the turning trick itself. I'll explain this mechanic in a later video as it's very important to scoring high.

Note: My tagging speed seen at the end of the video SUCKS because the spray directions are very specific. I'll need to work on this because it's important that you tag quickly in story stages. We will be seeing a full walk-through for Juset Set Radio HD, and I mean FULL (100%? You bet your roller hiney it is).
