Jimmy Broadbent Reviews(Not Really): Racing Xperience - Full Review in Description
Someone in the comments told me I should play and review this, so I am delivering.
I have previously dismissed this game for being a steaming pile of oxymoron as it did not give me any chance of experiencing any race or drifting to speak of, since driving the cars in this game always resulted in me constantly crashing into the closest wall or a garden whenever I so much as looked at the accelerator pedal weirdly or went beyond 1st gear.
Being a professional internet person, I immediately left a not-so-positive review on Google Play Games and funnily enough, I got a response from one of the devs and actually got to exchange a couple of emails with him regarding my harsh assessment of the game.
I do not remember the exact conversation but the only advise that I took from the exchange that would be of any help, was that in order to enjoy the game I had to actually turn the TC and ESP fully on.
Which is also an oxymoron because the game explicitly advises me to turn the traction control and ESP Off in order to drift, adding to the mental concussion I got after wheelspinning and crashing out on a 125hp Totally-Not-AE86-Corolla at 80kph.
Several other issues were mentioned:
namely the throttle & brake sliders being unusable pair of dipsticks, as it required the players to drag the thing all the way from the bottom(or the top if you didn't inverse it) whenever you released them, failing to reflect how actual pedals and vehicle ergonomics work and generally being a massive annoyance because often I got no throttle or brakes when I was heading straight towards a wall because my fingertip was milimetres away from the bottom end where the "bite" starts,
Not being able to adjust the size of the said pedals and the steering slider(joystick) when there is literally an option to change the size of manual up-downshift buttons and handbrakes,
Being able to shift where the interior camera is pointing at while you are driving, so when your finger slips off from the non-size adjustable joystick or steering wheel box, you will accidentally move your camera around, so you get disoriented(this seems to have been fixed, but I couldn't find the "fix camera" option this time)
And of course, the rear wheels having welded diffs and lego wheels so you will spin whenever and everywhere.
Apart from the "fix camera" one, none of these issues have been solved and while I suspect I might be able to remediate the spinning-out part with the use of upgrades and traction control, I have neither the money nor patience left to keep on trying.
Positives:
there are detailed weather and time of day options, which I could not enjoy to the fullest due to the reasons stated above,
the cars all have interior models that I can drive and immerse myself in, although all the cars have the wrong names to avoid license issues. Doesn't really matter, since you don't have to be shoved the car's names down your throat like Gran Turismo and Assoluto Racing do, because who needs nameplates?
Also, Totally-Not-RX7 FC model has rear spoilers so it doesn't look ugly,
You can hear the echo inside the tunnels as you can see in this video, so the sound design is on par,
And last but not least, they have SUVs. So even in racing games you can pretend you are one of the "hubbies" (or train in advance to be one): you know, the dudes who "believes he is trapped in a marriage but uses it as an excuse to vent his frustrations on everyone else including the wife he begged to marry him" types. The dudes who want people to respect him but doesn't know how, so he buys a big car that isn't a Mercedes S class: an SUV, so he can look down upon people while simultaneously keeping things within family budget and telling his wife "this car is much safer because its bigger". He then proceeds to hog the lanes, violate speed limits, tailgate shorter cars, eat up parking space, and ruin the air around them with bigger carbon emissions, the gormless c***s.
