Around 200 soldiers from 28 Engineer Regiment have started to celebrate the Jubilee weekend early when they received their Diamond Jubilee medals at Gordon Barracks in Hameln.

The parade was also a good occasion to hold an international families day to celebrate the 24 different nationalities that make up the regiment.

Also receiving his Long Service and Good Conduct medal today was double amputee Staff Sergeant Steve Arnold, who was injured in an IED blast on Op Herrick 14.

In two weeks time he will begin a 3 thousand mile cycle across America with 7 other injured personnel.
