Jurassic Park is my favorite movie/franchise of all time and I have grown up playing with the toys and the video games for most of my childhood. And as I have grown up I still find myself replaying the games on an annual/regular basis. The JP game on Sega Genesis is arguably the game I play the most on the Sega Genesis and is potentially my favorite on the console as well (its contested only by Sonic The Hedgehog 3 and Ghostbusters). The one JP game that I am not that familiar with is the Sega CD game. While I have had the game for years, I am not too familiar with it and have had hardly played it at all since my Sega CD console is rather touchy and unreliable so it has sat on my shelf for over 15+ yrs. Until now that is. Having beat pretty much every single Jurassic Park and The Lost World game for the era (including the PC games like Trespasser and the GB and Game-Gear games) and with Jurassic World: Dominion coming out to wrap up the series, I figured that its time to finally sit down and do this game since its long overdue. Having done it now the results were most interesting. I knew that the game was a Point-And-Click adventure game for the most part and that being a genre that I do not indulge in for the most part (Shadow Gate and the Uninvited games on NES not withstanding.....) it was a serious question of how well I would fare at this and how much I would enjoy it. I am pleased to say that it turned to a very pleasant experience. I found the puzzles to be challenging but not frustratingly so, a good amount of items, a very decent challenge in getting the eggs from the various dinosaur nest and the dinosaur's themselves are all adequately and accurately represented. While the video message sequences are very corny and of their time, they do serve a purpose of helping the player with clues and advancing the story along, and are pretty entertaining when viewed from the perspective of when the game came out. Is it the best JP game? No, not at all. But it is certainly playable and one can enjoy it if it is not taken too seriously. I like that its unique for trying something completely different in being a puzzle/adventure game instead of the standard platformer that we got on the Sega Genesis/Megadrive. If one can find a copy (and a working Sega CD console) for a decent price I would say check it out and get since its a decent little time-capsule of when JP Mania had taken over back in 1993-94. I am very glad to have played it and to say that I have now closed the book on the old-school JP games. But this will not be the last JP game that I upload for the channel though. I got at least one more coming, but that will have to wait till next month.....
Thanks for watching, and I hope you enjoy!
