Hello again.

After some time re-investigating XCOM's reddit, as well as trying to complete a deathless Legend Ironman off-screen playthrough, I decided:
"Well, why not to upload my efforts here?"
And so here it is.

It is done in a "classic" Sonic CD-style of mine - so, cutting needless loading screens, while also not giving any commentary out. All added music is listed after both missions.

=== The video plot ===

Network Tower's mission was done in zip mode because Sparks turned out to be a boring slog to play with their unnecessarily lengthy animations.

The cast for Alien Fortress:
- The Resolutor as Sniper
- William Thomas of XCOM EU's fame, returning to duty in WOTC-playthrough-friendly lore as Reaper
- Feedblack from that LWOTC video as Heavy
- Phil Mandate as Templar
- Nonamus as Ranger
- Maya Wagnerson (in, probably, the only public appearance ever that involves her in action) as Specialist

Time-wise it's 13 timelines before the TFTD timeline.

=== The gameplay ===

This campaign was done with "Grim Horizon" (permanent dark events) and "Explosives Damage Rescaling" (less explosive damage based on radius) Second Wave options.

Three Reapers because Zoe was captured for a while quite early

I've researched damage breakthroughs for all weapon types and plasma weaponry. Plus HP breakthroughs for armors

Had Alien Hunters' mission activated and Shen's disabled. The first one - because I didn't want the Rulers to suddenly end the save

Meaningful Resistance orders and bonuses:
- Deeper Learning: an order which made the playthrough. When Lost World activated, it made zombie missions useful. Helped to get my soldiers to Colonels ASAP
- Inside Job (both): while I still had the Black Market open it helped me to get a lot of supplies and resources
- Trial by Fire: improved Tactical Center and my encounters with the Chosen and Rulers
- Sabotage: lessened the pressure
- Information War: helped me to get better rewards out of primary objectives
- Tactical Analysis: a very good ability - it guarantees that MECs won't shower you with their rocket crap if they don't see you after your turn
- Resistance Rising II: allowed me to save myself when the doom timer was close to finishing me off
- Mental Fortitude: I had lots of phobies here, so using this was a no-brainer. It also turned panic events into free moves
- Rapid Collection: nice to have
- Double Agent: Elite ADVENT soldiers are actually quite decent in battle under your control - and they also get bonuses out of dark events
- Resistance Network: lessened the pressure on me a lot
- Inside Knowledge and Integrated Warfare: better PCS and weapon mods are good

Dark events:
- Stiletto Rounds: actually a good dark event. I had some bleedouts triggered by this type of ammo. And they guarantee it instead of rolling a chance. So it kinda saved my early playthrough.
- Dark Tower: a VERY, VERY bad dark event that forced me to change squads every mission instead of two. Also it's what forced me to build Sparks.
- Lost World: the primary reason why I have over 2k alien kills. The primary reason why I've enabled zip mode for Sparks. Every mission after it triggered lasted at least an hour.
It trivialized a lot of battles thanks to the aliens spending their time to shoot zombies, but it also soft-locked the game during overwatches a lot, forcing me to restart it. This also caused a huge performance spike and a heating problem.
I won't play with Grim Horizon anymore thanks to this dark event.
- Gone to Ground: it was a setback, but not a big one as I already had personal armors and magnetic guns
- Made Whole: made the teleporting Warlock very annoying to fight
- Midnight Raids: did nothing to me, lol
- Viper Rounds: a bad event, but triggered way too late to matter

=== The scariest moments ===
- June's friendly VIP's escort: thanks to rocket crap MEC sent my way, ADVENT officer had managed to land a crit on Maya, just barely leaving her at one HP
- 1st Chryssalid Terror mission: Chryssalids fully ignored any sense and struck Resolutor after running 60+ tiles just because. It was a miracle that he survived after two strikes. Had to EVAC him though.

So that's how it went.

Now, time for a rant.

=== The rant ===
Ahh, I'm damn sick of footage lags in Sony Vegas. Also Shadowplay - why the hell it records the footage in "variable framerate" type...
I want to deliver a fluid experience to Watchers and Commenters that for some weird reason watch me, and yet this crap either trolls me with lags in the resulting render or forcing me to put that into Handbrake.
And Handbrake turns what actually looks decent into a disgusting mud, turned even worse by YT's compression. Heating up CPU to 93 degrees as well. Undervolting also caused problems for me so that's out.
No actual useful advice exists on VFR's, Shadowplay and Vegas problems but loads of template answers like "YUZ HEANDBRAK!". I hate them a lot!
