Hello again.

We're doing the purple mission today. They tend to be better than the rest of missions in this game - so, maybe, we'll have something interesting here?

(Jared sits on a bench in one of City 31's parks with nothing to do. He decides to write something in his HDD)

This day... hmm, it went kinda great. Good weather too.
Honestly, the rest of week since my wake-up was kinda challenging, but it went decently.

So, I'm currently in some kinda important city... Well, it was definitely important for ADVENT if here's a spaceport. I think, it's name is City 31?

Numerical names, bah. Easy to keep in mind, but without any trace of imagination.

The city itself - it's quite good, all things considering. Almost no marauding Reapers were here, a touch of ADVENT is also seen. They did care to at the very least keep the city in great shape.

The only big incident was when Chryssalids emerged from the lab... Yup, that was almost like Novosibirsk... It was rather bloody, but it was also contained relatively fast. All thanks to our investigations in Novosibirsk to prevent that from getting as ugly as it did.

Speaking of which... I've met (shudders) Essentuki today. But she was more relaxed than a year ago. Carefully asked about Novosibirsk - it's hard, but rebuilding efforts are still going on.
Why did I meet her, though? Welp, yesterday we had to decide the fate of the aliens. Kelly and pro-alien sympathizers forced the Resistance and former ADVENT citizenship to call a meeting. That meeting required the presence of all major players still in play, including us, Essentuki and... take a guess - the aliens themselves.

Some of them, like Ax'Omow, were now free regarding their services to the Resistance. The most vocal of them were pushing for a peaceful co-existence. "It is destined for a better tomorrow". Yeah right, aliens, I remember your "better tomorrow" in my nightmares. But Kelly was really moved with that.

The other point is to have an alliance against the Ethereals in case they decide to strike back. This is a better reason, I myself don't think we've seen the last of them. Allying with their former, really loyal servants is a stupid move though.
If they are shown to backstab what they considered to be the gods... Well, I can understand that with ADVENT, they were bred to be warrior slaves and to keep the conspiracy, but the rest...

Alright, the meeting itself. Well, it was a mess. Reapers didn't come, as they had a massive dislike for the aliens as a whole. Skirmishers did, as the Templars as well. The Shrike did come too. I was assigned to be Kelly's bodyguard by Kelly herself. 100% sure it was to say "here, look, I have my rival at my disposal".
The Commander and John, along with Shen and Tygan had to stay at the Avenger thanks to some technical problems. So the representative was Kelly.

It was almost like a reality show. One whining side, led by Kelly, against the second whining side, led by more sensible people. "We want peace and love" against "we don't want to cooperate". And it would go down the drain, all of it, if I didn't talk Essentuki out of enraging the pro-alien people.
I hate the aliens, but a sudden revolution would cause a major headache for the Commander and John. They wanted some silence for a bit.

I got Essentuki to cooperate, on several conditions:
- One of City 31's districts would be renamed "Bugtown", to honor the sacrifice of Novosibirsk
- She would be given some hi-tech resources for rebuilding her city
- Pro-alien groups wouldn't dare to touch the nation she strived to create
- She'd tell the story of "Bugtown Massacre" in full detail with Ax'Omow's involvement in Kelly's rescue

She was the leader of the most powerful territories of Eurasia, so keeping peace with her was an option I'd enjoy myself.
And so, the aliens and their symphatizers got their wish. A some kind of freedom and peace. Anti-alien groups weren't amused, but thanks to Essentuki's influence, we've got the Shrike to police the city for a while. They needed some positive reputation after the scandal which occured during my psi-nightmare, and so far they've been doing a decent job in security - so why not?

Her story about the Massacre, despite being scary, was amusing at the end, when she told about the memories of aliens, where Kelly was just running and hugging the cover in fear.
To say that Kelly was blushing in shame is to say nothing. That was GOOD, as her whimering responces to the truth. You get what you deserve for kicking Nicoletta out of XCOM.

I'd go in more details, but the space is running short. This HDD, oh boy, it can't record too much info in one go.

I'll let it rest then. I have a park to investigate. To enjoy the evening.
