XCOM Chimerian Squadron - Episode 17
==== Began uploading on 2022, December, 4th, 3:23 ====
(drooling in sleep, then suddenly awakening to remember that I have to make a description) Ah... hello again. Today is the...
(falling asleep, resulting crash on the floor awakens me and I return to the chair) ...seventeenth episode of Chimerian Squad... adroooooo...
(I fall asleep again, being awoken by the cat jumping on my face) ...oh yeah, the 17th episode of this thing... probably the most boring episode of what currently happened in this game. Here... we're going to--
(I fall on the floor, this time in total shutdown from the boringness of the episode)
See, that description was more fun to make than playing/rendering this episode. In fact, this is the first one where I deployed XCOM 2 TSE's music. It was that unengaging.
Music:
Squad selection: Prodeus - Vessel Light/XCOM 2 TSE - Squad Selection, Regular Missions
Second half of the mission: CNC Renegade - Sniper/XCOM 2 TSE - Tunnels Combat 3
Credits:
Andrew Hulshult - for Vessel Light
Frank Klepacki - for Sniper

For some reason, Nic wants to see me in Psi Lab.
What is even weirder is the fact how she wrote her note to me - quite a flirty and prose-ish one. Is that a date? Or madness caused by psionics? Nic is still supposed to be in her mind though... okay, I'll check what she wanted.
(Jared goes to Psi Lab, where he sees Nicoletta Gasparado - in a dress no less. She asks him to witness her new psionic power, as she trusts him more than anyone else.
She does her trick... and then Jared suddenly gets a panic attack. He begins to scream quite loudly, grabbing his head to calm himself down. Nicoletta looks lost and somewhat horrified. As she rushes to Jared to see what happened with him, Jared Hill's mind begins to display some images burried deep in his mind)

BRAIN MEMORY: INVASION IS HELL, PART 1
DATE: 8-SEPTEMBER-2015
==========================
I sit frightened, holding the LMG close to my face.
Trying to look ready, yet feeling uncomfortable inside.
The smell of burning metal fills the air outside of our APC.
One bump, two... The road we're on is definitely damaged from the alien bombardment.
Squaddies of our defense are around me.
Fresh recruits, straight out of boot camp. They look ready, but it is an illusion, as they are frightened about what's going to be next.
Grizzled veterans of War of Terror. They claimed to be ready for anything, but the alien invasion has proven them otherwise.
Our squad captain from special forces. Trying to cheer us up with moralistic speeches, yet it's clearly seen how much sweat drops from her face.
We share grim looks on each other.
Everyone knew for what we assigned, yet we started to have doubts when actually going there.
Another bump... We hear silenced motors, coupled with explosions and what sounds like a jet engine.
Air Force is here too... Maybe our nation can unite and fight the aliens and win together, as combined arms - or it will be the most humiliating defeat in USA history, the result of us screwing up for too long.
The tasks of my group are simple.
Getting in, suppressing the hostiles, escorting the civilian population out.
Sounds easy enough - if we trust the words of our command.
But we didn't, no one.
APC stopped as I've reached this conclusion. Our driver opened the hatch, and looked at us.
His face has a look of both unshakeable confidence and suppressed panic.
"My dearest customers... brother-in-arms... (gulps) good luck out there",- he tried to pronounce as clearly as possible. But it came out as a weak whimper.
From how he sounded it was clear that he was formerly a shady automobile con man. But the most daring times usually open deeply hidden traits - he would save his own skin if he was a coward.
The captain said the plan for the last time.
We were supposed to enter the battlefield fully ready.
We would be - if our enemies were human.
Who's supposed to be ready for something otherworldly, when not dealing with that on everyday basis?
But we were chosen for this mission.
Running away would mean a betrayal to our humanity, our home.
And we had to do the job, no matter the cost.
It's either us or them.
"The game is on",- the captain said to the driver, as he opened the hatch of APC for our entrance on the horror land.
LMG, don't jam here, I beg you.
