"Kick. Punch. Chop. Point?" My experience playing Karate Champ for the NES was rather underwhelming. While the game appeared straightforward, I struggled with timing and accuracy when executing attacks. I often found my attacks to be inconsistent, sometimes failing to execute altogether. Despite these challenges, I appreciated the historical significance of this early fighting game and found the appearance of the peculiar, Muppet-like judge to be a unique touch. While I hope to one day become a karate champion, it's clear that I have some work to do.

Game Info:
Karate Champ is a martial arts fighting game developed by Technos Japan and released for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) in 1986. The game is considered one of the earliest and most influential fighting games of all time, paving the way for later titles in the genre such as Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat.

In Karate Champ, the player takes on the role of a karate student who must compete against other fighters in a tournament. The game features two game modes: one-on-one fighting and a bonus game where the player must break boards with various karate techniques.

The gameplay in Karate Champ is unique for its time, as it features two separate control sticks for the player's character. One stick controls movement, while the other controls attacks and defensive moves. This control scheme added a level of complexity to the game, requiring players to master both sticks in order to be successful.

Karate Champ also features a variety of different moves and techniques, including punches, kicks, blocks, and throws. These moves must be executed with precise timing and accuracy in order to defeat opponents.

Upon its release, Karate Champ was well-received for its innovative gameplay and realistic depiction of martial arts. The game's influence can still be seen in modern fighting games today.
