Karnov is a pretty good, old NES action/platformer starring Data East's East-Russian (though he's from Central Asia) ex-circus performer, Jinborov Karnovski. He would later go on to appear in various games like "Bad Dudes Vs. DragonNinja", "Fighter's History", "Fighter's History Dynamite" / "Karnov's Revenge", and "Fighter's History: Mizoguchi Kiki Ippatsu!!", just as some examples. Karnov originally came out in the Arcades.

As the muscular strongman Karnov, you'll shoot fireballs from your mouth to dispatch most enemies and climb ladders, avoid traps, and jump over chasms. You'll also have access to several tools, none of which you'll ever really need but they make your life more convenient. Some examples are weak and strong bombs, a mask to help you locate hidden items, a ladder to reach items too high to get normally, shoes that help you jump higher for a limited time, etc. The NES version features decent audio/visuals with a good bit of flickering. The Famicom version of Karnov was more difficult and featured a story that was completely removed upon its release overseas.

This is a video of the first two levels.
