I'm playing some more Kerbal Space Program 1.0 career mode in this video. This time, we are heading to the Mun!

We start out looking at the available contracts, and we find several that deal with going to the Mun. There are ones for getting temperature readings at a few location, returning science, and even just landing and exploring. So we take those as one for rescuing a Kerbal from orbit.

We then go to the R&D center, and unlock Landing and Fuel Systems.

We then build a ship that is somewhat based upon on the Tourist rocket, but has 6-way symmetry and uses asparagus stagin, and a lander on top. With the lander, the weight of the rocket is less than one ton from the max!

We launch, and get into orbit with a bit of fuel to spare. We then plan and execute a burn to the Mun, using the rest of the launch fuel, and a bit of the lander fuel. We gut to the Mun, do a burn to get into a high and elliptical orbit, and gather and send back some science.

Next time we will attempt t take the needed readings and land on the surface!
