I'm continuing my Kerbal Space Program career mode game in this video. Last time we didn't quite complete a visual survey contract as our aircraft couldn't fly high enough.

This time we start off with a modified aircraft, adding two radial rocket engines and an extra fuel tank. The idea it to fly up to about 10 km, and then ignite the rockets to power us up to 17 km, where we can get the reading we need. We lift off, head toward the location and begin climbing. We pass the point a bit, but we get up to about 11 km, so we turn around and then start the rockets. The rockets run out at about 16 km, but we are going fast enough to actually get above 19 km, and we get the reading we need. Since we are close to KSC, we decide to fly back and land on the runway for 100% recovery.

We go to mission control and take two satellite contracts, one equatorial and one polar, along with a contract to test the terrier engine in orbit. We decide to do the equatorial satellite and terrier engine test first, as it is the lower, simpler orbit to get into. We build a rocket with five stages. Initially 3 thumper solid rockets and a swivel liquid engine with five fuel tanks lift us up. Then there is a middle stage of a terrier and a normal fuel tank, with a final stage of a terrier and a 1/2 fuel tank. The satellite is a octo probe, with two solar panels, a battery, an antenna, a materials bay, and a nose cone. The launch goes well, but by the time we get into orbit, we are above the altitude for the test. So we need to do an additional maneuver to get to the correct altitude for the test. We also have to be careful to keep our solar panels facing the sun, so we don't run out of power. It takes an extra orbit to get the test done, but we do get it done and get the satellite into the correct orbit.
