KH 358/2 Days Playthrough #035, Day 73 M22, The Sergeant at Beast's Castle
This is video #035 in my Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days playthrough. Roxas first does the Challenge for Mission 10 in the Castle that Never Was. I did not realize earlier that this mission was on the Challenge list. To get all three Challenge Sigils, Rox can only attack three times or fewer. The enemy level is increased by 8. It is not too hard at level 13. Just Dodge Roll around and Block the enemies' attacks. You can also attack with magic.
Then, Roxas embarks on Day 73's mission, Mission 22. In this mission, he starts exploring a new world, Beast's Castle. The mission is to find and kill a Sergeant. However, there is a bit to do to reach the area where the Sarge is located. When Rox beams in, he hears a beastly sound from inside the castle.
Roxas arrives in the Bridge area. This is where Sora will have his showdown with Xaldin in Kingdom Hearts II. In this area, you will meet one of the new enemies, the Bad Dog. It's not too hard to make this puppy play dead. The Block LV+ (L) and a Frost Shard can be found in the north of this area.
The area to the north is the Courtyard. There is something of a puzzle in this area. The main door cannot be opened. However, there are three statues that are out of place. Roxas will have to knock the statues onto the circles where they belong. Naturally, enemies will show up to get in his way. When the statues are back in place, a side door will open. There are also a couple of treasures in the Courtyard: a Potion in the east and an Ether in the west. Finally, the Ordeal Badge can be found in the northeast corner.
The small side door leads to the Entrance Hall Upper Level. Another new type of enemy, Soldiers, will appear here. You may be familiar with these foes from Kingdom Hearts and Kingdom Hearts II. Fire works like a charm on them, and so do physical attacks. There are a few switches to activate here to open the way to the central part of the area, where a broken window leads to the Entrance Hall. Before going through that window, Roxas can get a chest that contains a Hi-Potion.
Down in the Entrance Hall, Roxas can grab the Unity Badge in the northeast corner underneath the stairway. As he approaches the door to the south, the Sergeant will appear. The Sergeant looks like an upgraded Soldier. It does not flinch after normal Keyblade attacks. However, the Ice spell will hit it multiple times and keep it off balance so that you can land a few hits. When it uses a jump attack and a whirling spin attack, it can be Blocked and knocked onto its back. The luckiest thing is when the Ice spell freezes it because you can deal extra damage with normal attacks and especially the Fire spell. This will be the key to defeating it quickly during the Challenge version of this mission.
When the Sergeant is dead, Roxas hears another mysterious roar. It will be a while before he figures out who is making that sound. After unbarring the main door, he heads south to the dark portal and RTCs. At the clock tower, he wonders what's happened to Axel and Xion.
One of the best rewards for this mission is the Backpack. Installing this panel will add two slots to Roxas's backpack. I suggest using as many of these as possible, especially for missions where there are lots of treasure chests. The other good prize is the Block LV+ (L) panel from the chest. This can be installed in the current Block panel to increase Roxas's blocking power.
The next morning, Roxas learns to his relief that he and Axel will be going to find Xion. Excellent! Talk to Axel after the scene to get a Hi-Ether. Then, if you have synthesized a Hi-Potion at the Moogle Shop, talk to Demyx two times to get a Combo Tech.
Thank you for watching!
