I wonder if Squenix will make Strike Raid balanced in Kingdom Hearts 3.

Proud mode
LV40 (170 HP, 975 CP)

Deck setup (in order)
Melee: 4x times 7-9-9, then 7-9-7-7-7
Magic: Fire 7-6-5,
Items: Hi-Potion 9-9-2, Mega Potion 2
Magic: Cure 9-9-7-6
Melee: 0-0-0-0
Special: Vexen

The day I got two Hi-Potions in a single Moogle Room at 8F Atlantica marked a huge turn in my otherwise mediocre deck. With two hi-potions I could efficiently loop humanoid bosses with Lame Raid to almost no end, or at least down to the last health bar. The final Riku Replica fell a bit easier in this same fashion with pretty much the same set, without all the premature sleights that were used here.

Basically the set works like this: You do four Strike Raids, one Stun Impact (if I had a tad more CP and another 9 card, that would make five Raids!), charge reload once, search for Strike Raid contenders and adapt to the situation accordingly. On the final strike raid (usually a third one), throw a Hi / Mega Potion and repeat. One very important thing in this lame antic is that the sleights must be thrown AFTER Larxene. The bosses at this stage in the game like to combo break from just about anything that does not stun them temporarily. You do get to see two instances where I act too early (or too late) which ultimately did cost me a life. But that is why I equipped the Vexen card as a back-up for this kind of a predicament and what can I say, it played it's part. I had to act real fast on the Strike Raid though or the resurrection would have been for nothing.

If I get hit, I try find an opening to heal. With two 9-value Cures, I won't be broken too often... but kinda get hit anyway after all because I suck. This loop is all about dat momentum.

Silly shenanigans aside, it feels good to play through this game with upscales and fully translated content. I grinded in the Japanese PS2 version of this game quite a few years back, but the english dialogue fits right in and rightfully refreshes my memory on the game's dialogue. I DID play through the original GBA version on an emulator a good seven years back and let me tell you, the keyboard did not make fourth Riku any easier.

Such a shame the bonus Organisation XIII cards cannot be acquired until after final boss! No wonder I did not have to worry so much about my sets in the Japanese PS2 version. :P

All in all I like this game, but it relies a bit too much on random number generator mechanics for it's own good which can be understandably off-putting. Still, I like to tweak sets that can be optimised to their fullest and I'm glad Chain of Memories for one could offer that kind of a kicker out of itself. The rest rely much on more on pure combat skills... well okay, not really. Just boost the hell out of CP and go nuts.

That said, have a good dose of Strike Raid, because you never go astray, when enemies break up cray.
