Our first instance of a 2D Keyhole. At first this boss was giving me trouble but I eventually figured out the trick to it. First things first, you need to choose Thunder Rain for this fight. The point of the power up will be the clear the field of Blox rather then damage and Thunder is the most effective at doing it.

You need to take things slowly and wait for an opening. After stomping across the field, Guard Armor will always jump into the air and turn around. After that, you want to stay a specific distance away so you have 1 set of Bloxs in front and the rest behind you. From here it can do one of 2 things, shoot its arms and charge an energy attack. If it shoots its arms, stand behind the Blox blocking you and guard them. Re:coded has a finicky guard that auto-turns to your target so if you are next to the Blox behind you, Sora will guard the other way which is annoying. If it does the charge attack, use your command to wipe the Blox and get a combo on him. If you land your combo early enough, its attack will be stopped and it will get stunned.

Something interesting about these 2D sections that will be more relevant later. Unlike the other gimmick keyholes, Sora retains many of his passive abilities in these areas. Not only does he keep his combo related abilities like Combo Plus but your keyblades abilities as well. You have no Overclock Gauge in 2D but all keyblades have an ability at base Overclock that is always in effect. For Kingdom Key this doesn't matter but later in the game when you get keyblades that are naturally stronger at no Overclock this can be a huge help.

This is being played on the DeSmuME emulator. I don't have a DS/3DS capture card nor do I have the funds to get one. I am also using a high resolution 3D renderer at X3 setting to make the footage much cleaner.
