KH Re:Com - Part 8: Destiny Islands, Riku Replica 4, and Larxene 2
Riku Replica 4 I got really lucky on, he sucks. Dark Aura does so much damage and it's almost impossible to dodge, for me anyways. Dark Aura is dodgable, but I doubt it's consistent and if it is consistent, it's ridiculously hard to learn. So, for my purposes anyways, Dark Aura was just effectively HUGE forced damage. In my winning attempt he kinda just didn't use it too much and also behaved relatively well. But yeah without Jafar or 0 cards there's just no good way to deal with Dark Aura, so Repliku 4 is rather problematic since his Dark Aura is stupid, but with a bit of luck, a ton of cures, and some presistence, I was still able to beat him.
Larxene 2 is the best fight in the game, her sleights are all dodgeable except mega volt which you can partially dodge to take minimal damage. In phase 2 her basic attack turns into a stupid combo that shaves off like half your HP which is ridiculous. Her second phase turns into a real endurance match in this playthrough since I can't deny or interrupt her sleights by any means and she uses a lot of them, but since they aren't forced damage it's purely a matter of skill whether or not I lose HP to them. Blade Storm is super satisfying to dodge and is honestly more unique and cool than 90% of mainline boss DMs, it might be one of the most unique and fun attacks to dodge in the whole series. Anyways Larxene 2 is hard, but she's more fair and fun, the only BS feeling thing is when she card breaks you with her basic combo in phase 2 with a 0 card and you just lose 50% of your HP for no good reason, but this whole game revolves around virtually forced damage via card breaks so that's just how it is unless you use genie jafar card to avoid that. At least she doesn't abuse sleights for her forced damage.
