Kim Possible: What's the Switch - Evil Lair huge skip
One of the holy grails for this game was finding a way to get into Shego's second section in Evil Lair early. The only thing stopping you from getting in is a laser wall. Well today, it has finally become a reality.
This skip skips Kim's second Evil Lair section as well as the Rufus section. This saves at least 3 minutes if performed well, probably more, making it one of the biggest skips in the run.
There's just one issue. This is the worst skip in this game by a mile! This skip is so difficult, frustrating, precise, inconsistent and flimsy that it's insane. This no joke took me 22 minutes to record and that was after a fair amount of practice (although it partially took that long because I wanted to get it quickly). This was so bad that ngl, I originally wanted to hold off showing this off until I got WR without it but Chris demanded me to do it so here it is.
The first thing you need to do is position the robot in just the right spot so you get stuck on the generator in a certain way. This is quite precise and doing it incorrectly will mess up the next part of the skip. The robot is also a general nuisance and can sometimes move himself if you do something silly.
You then need to do a slide into an instant roll jump. If the robot is in just the right place and you succeed the roll jump, you will get a big jump and you will be in a grounded state high up in the air. The problem with this however is that things can very easily go wrong. If the robot isn't in the perfect position and if your execution is a bit off, you will not get this jump. Setting this jump up properly is extremely dumb but you can do it with enough luck.
And then you have to do a ledge grab wall jump in order to get on top of the pillar. This jump is incredibly stupid. You need very good pause buffers in order to make it up as you can't ledge grab on the higher pillar. Pause buffering increases the height of your dive kick which is a notable thing to mention. This just is also really, really hard and if you mess it up, you gotta get back up there all over again.
And then you have a wall jump to get on top of the wall. Luckily, we are past the hard part of the skip and this jump isn't too difficult. You need to dive kick before the wall jump to get enough height but you only need a few pause buffers to grab the ledge. Just don't mess it up or you have to get up there all over again.
Afterwards, you can do some OOB movement to get into section 2, specifically the area with the pullable box. This movement is easy enough. You do have to pause for longer to load the level on a real PS2 but this isn't anything too crazy. You can skip the trigger for the lasers in the box room, allowing you to skip pulling the box although I missed it in this video. I already spent 22 minutes getting to that point so I wasn't going to keep doing attempts for who knows how much longer just to skip the laser trigger.
So yes, that's early Shego section 2. It's the hardest skip in the game by a mile and I fear that it has hindered this game's appeal as a speedgame. Is it RTA viable? Yes, the timesave is absolutely huge and even more complex skips have been achieved in other speedruns. But I will say that I am not going to get my first WR with this skip, this is the kind of skip that will show up later on in this game's life.
