Kingdom Hearts 3 Re Mind - Data Master Xehanort (LV1 Critical) *No Damage*
This fight was definitely an experience... Usually when I do these, I spend around 1 to 2 hours practicing the fight with Second Chance and Withstand Combo so I can learn the whole fight. After that I take off all my accessories and armor and start recording the fight. This fight however I spent like 3 to 4 hours practicing and felt like I wasn't making much progress so I just went to bed. The next day I just jumped straight into recording attempts instead of more practice... And this turned out to be the fastest and easiest data fight of them all. I managed to nail the no damage in only 20 minutes despite making a boatload of mistakes in the process. There were SO many times I felt like I should have been hit but I didn't simply because I happen to be in the most perfect spot for the attack to whiff.
Now, Master Xehanort continues the trend of following a fixed AI pattern but following it is quite difficult. For one, making contact with your attacks is actually really hard as your Counter Kick will whiff all the time and Final Blow is kind of unresponsive. Since Reprisals and Final Blow add no RV, this means failing to land them can cost you a lot of potential damage and force you to take more cycles then you should. Master Xehanort also has A LOT of attacks and they are all mixed together seemingly at random. That means that seeing a repeat attack doesn't mean his pattern has reset, it can just be another extremely similar attack. This makes it very difficult to memorize his pattern and I think this is what caused me frustration during my practice runs.
When I decided to just gun it and go for the run, I had forgotten a good chunk of his pattern. I could remember up to the DM but nothing else after that. I could also remember how to dodge most of the attacks but often I had to ready myself. On my successful run however, this was not the case. A nice chunk of this fight was 100% on-the-fly improv and reaction. This particular run was actually only the second time I made it into the second phase this recording session and I only barely made it in the first time. So almost the entire second phase I was playing blind with no clue what was coming next.
The one attack you do need to watch out for however is the single laser where Xehanort throws a spike ball. This always happens right after the 4 giant lasers and is a really nasty attack that can catch you off guard because you must be running to the right before the attack starts. You also want to try and not overextend on attacks because Xehanort breaks out very quickly and he can snipe you before you hit the ground. I would use Triple Rush since it doesn't knock enemies into the air like Speed Slash but since Xehanort is always in the air, Speed Slash is the better option. Speed Slash also tracks extremely well while Triple Rush sometimes whiffs in the air and has higher RV.
