Previously, the party did some more leveling in the Cavern of Remembrance. Sora and Donald each reached Level 91, while Goofy reached Level 92. Now, they will continue with a few more data battles. Their targets will be Vexen, Axel, and Xaldin.

The party starts by preparing to face Vexen. Ice-elemental protection is helpful. Unfortunately, the Acrisus+ has better fire, ice, and lightning protection than the Ribbon. The Firaga spell is an excellent weapon against Vexen, especially in maxed-out Final Form. Of course, Donald and Goofy must be conscious for Sora to use this form.

After preparing, the party goes to the Garden of Assemblage and examines Keyhole IV in the southwest for Vexen (time 2:03). Even more so than before, it is a good idea to keep Sora off Vexen's data circle. It fills up pretty fast, and the Anti-Sora duplicates are murderous. Of course, this time around, Vexen himself is pretty dangerous. His icy stalagmites can rip Sora to shreds. When he has lost around half of his health, he will start using a desperation attack where he telekinetically moves massive blocks of ice around. At the end of this, he will go to the center and form an iceberg around himself. This is deadly. He still has his shield that Sora must destroy before damaging him. Fortunately, Vexen is weak to Firaga, and using it in Final Form will destroy his health bar at an amazing rate. Furthermore, Final Form is very helpful in dealing damage to Vexen while protecting Sora from Anti-Sora duplicates.

At the end, Sora defeats Vexen (time 5:52). For defeating the Chilly Academic, he earns another Lost Illusion (time 6:16).

Afterwards, Sora prepares to face Axel (time 7:50). This is a one-on-one battle, so there is no need to prepare Donald or Goofy.

In the Garden of Assemblage, the party examines Keyhole VIII in the south for Axel (time 8:40). We are treated to the Chain of Memories Organization battle music here. The fire on the floor rapidly saps Sora's HP. To get rid of it, Sora must combo Axel until Axel jumps out of the fire circle. When he comes back in, Sora can respond with Burst Frontier, Overtaker, and Clear Light to get rid of the fire on the floor. After Clear Light, Axel is open to a combo. I believe that Axel can only be defeated when the floor is clear. To deal damage and recover HP, the Limit Form's Sonic Rave is very useful. Further, MP Rage will give Sora MP back from the damage he takes, so he can use Sonic Rave pretty continuously. Of course, Axel's fiery attacks can burn Sora up quickly, so be careful.

At the end, Sora defeats Axel (time 11:29). For defeating him, Sora earns a Magic Boost (time 11:52). He promptly uses this on himself.

Next, the party prepares to battle Xaldin (time 14:02). There is no way to cheese this battle easily, so be sure to load up good recovery items.

In the Garden of Assemblage, the party examines Keyhole III in the northwest for Xaldin (time 15:23). The only reliable way to damage this mad lancer is to use the Learn reaction command to stock Jump attacks. At the start, Guard against his attacks so Sora can use numerous Learns. In the second and third phases of the battle, this is easiest during his jump barrage. However, when you Glide to avoid his jump barrage, you can't stock Jump attacks very well if you fly in a straight line because you will outfly him too fast. Fly in circles or a zigzag pattern. Be sure to use Guard or Reflega to block his wind burst projectiles. They can loop around and destroy Sora easily. Late in the battle, when Xaldin teleports around, Sora can goad him into reprising the jump barrage by using Magnega or Jump just as he stops. During Xaldin's limit break, do whatever you can to avoid the damage from his dragon's wind breath attack. Reflega, a single Jump, or changing into a Form will do the trick. Fortunately, a high-level Glide is just enough to evade many of his attacks. When he is low enough on health, and his wind armor is weakened, a full Jump barrage will annihilate him. A good time is right after his dragon attack.

At the end, Sora defeats Xaldin (time 23:50). Clearing this fight nets Sora a Defense Boost (time 24:24). Again, Sora wastes no time using this goody on himself.
