Kingdom Rush Special Request - Nightfang Swale Campaign - Big Bertha Only
For our final Nightfang Swale challenge we do Big Berthas only, and just like the previous two challenges we manage all waves called instantly and no lives lost. This one however was a LOT harder and took several tries.
The most obvious difficulty here is the fact that the Dragonbreath Launcher upgrade is the only thing that can directly target the Hags. That means we have to rush getting as many of them up and going as fast as possible, and relying on Rain of Fire and reinforcements to help take them down until the tower DPS is sufficient.
Along the way though there are several moments were very precise micro is needed to handle enemies. I thought I would break down the most important ones here, since they're not always obvious while you're watching the video:
01:55 - The Hag needs to be killed with Rain of Fire as there isn't sufficient tower damage to kill it yet.
02:40 - The Rain of Fire has to kill both the Wererat and the Hag, or the Hag has a good chance of escaping later on.
03:15 - Both the Abominations plus the first two Wererats need to be grouped together for the Rain of Fire. Ten'shi also ideally needs to be in Iron Time so that he doesn't die if one of the Abominations dies. If he dies at this point the remaining Wererats will definitely reach the exit.
04:25 - The Rain of Fire needs to take out a Hag as well as most of the Skeleton Warriors. The Skeletons need to go down as fast as possible to make sure the Dragonbreath Launchers target the remaining Hags.
07:39 - Ten'shi has to start blocking the four Abominations that appear so that they get grouped up as close as possible for the Rain of Fire at 08:30.
09:51 - Not micro, per se, but it's at this point you really have to start adding Cluster Launcher Xtremes to handle the enormous hordes that come in the last waves.
And while there's no clip to really show it, an important part of this strategy is Ten'shi being in Iron Time and having the Hags target him, since it slows them down and gives more opportunities for the Dragonbreath Launchers to hit them.
Getting the win here is not really the hard part, even when calling all waves instantly. It's managing the micro to get a no lives lost that's the real challenge. This was a fun one, and kind of redeemed this map for me since I'm still suffering PTSD from iron mode.
