Skyrim 100% Maximized Legendary Playthrough - 319. Hag's End
We pick up today by looting Deepwood Vale, which we pacified last time. After thoroughly scouring the valley for anything of value, we move on to the next zone, Hag's End, which strangely is it's own primary location in the world instead of just the third zone of Deepwood Redoubt, even though you can only reach it by going through Deepwood Redoubt.
Hag's End is a Nordic tower that we gradually ascend. There's a decent idea here in the setup, but it falls a little flat in execution. In the very first room there's a hagraven with two hags. The hags can be killed, but after the hagraven is damaged a bit she teleports away, only to appear on the next floor with a couple more more hags. The same gimmick repeats here where she teleports up a floor again when sufficiently damaged. This continues for more floors until she finally teleports to the top of the tower which is in the outdoor space of Deepwood Vale, where she finally can be killed.
The idea is to give the sense of a progressive boss fight, but while it's a good idea that works in other games, it doesn't really here. First, it's just an ordinary hagraven - there's no story that goes along with her to give her the feel that she's actually a boss, nor does she even have a unique name. This would have worked better if it had been the setup for the quest The Affairs of Hagravens. Second, her teleporting gimmick doesn't really do anything. It just makes it feel like on every floor there's a fight with two hags and a hagraven with a reduced health pool.
This probably works better if you're trying this location as a low level character where hagravens are tough customers. You scrape through the first fight, only to groan as you realize you're going to have to face this enemy multiple times on the way up to the top.
In any case we loot the tower, and on the way up we accomplish what we originally came here for - we find the resting place of the dead Dark Brotherhood assassin who is carrying the Ancient Shrouded Armor set. It's just a slightly better version of the Shrouded Armor we already have, but it's a unique set, so into the collection it goes.
Arriving at the top we're rewarded with two more unique items for our collection back home - the unique dagger Bloodthorn found on the table, and the unique boots Predator's Grace which are found by Whirlwind Sprinting over to a ledge off to the side. With those goodies claimed we head back home for a sort n' sell to finish. We have one more video where we need to tie up some loose ends and make some preparations before finally heading to the climax of the Dark Brotherhood questline.
