King's Quest III (2011) (PC) (AGD Interactive)
AGD Interactive's unofficial freeware remake of King's Quest 3 has just been released, and even though I'm not much of an adventure gamer I can't help but smile seeing an updated version of the game I struggled with so much on my old IBM computer back in the early 1990s; when neither my gaming skills or my understanding of the English language were sufficient to tackle all the steep challenges of this decidedly old school Sierra game.
As for the quality of the remake, the graphical update is very nice indeed, and while the narrator is a bit overbearing at times ("YOU PICK UP A LOAF OF BREAD!!") it sure is nice to have decent voice acting for all those written lines. The point and click interface is functional, but the good old text parser was always an integral part of these early adventure games so its Absence Makes The Heart Grow Yonder. Sorry, couldn't help myself there...
