Having a go with a virtual quarter in The King of Fighters 2000 on the NEOGEO, using a semi-random custom team of Mai, Iori, and Athena--and a "Roulette" random striker.
All three are characters I feel sort of familiar with, but not all that strong with. I definitely felt more confident with Mai as the matches went on--that flame swoosh of hers is so good!--but I definitely don't have a real handle on just the normal attacks of any of these three characters, and still rely too much on their special moves to try to get anywhere with them.
And I seemed to discover that you can't exploit Athena's jumping, air-to-ground fireball transformation like you can in some earlier KOFs! Mai's backward falling attack does kinda work okay, though. : P
