About Game: LA Noire is 2011 action-adventure video game with the elements of classic noire developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games released for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Windows-based PCs while remastered versions were released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and HTC Vive VR headset in 2017. While it was met with outstanding critical acclaim upon release on account of its convincing depiction of 1940s Los Angeles, great characters and storyline and detailed gameplay, LA Noire is most notable for its extremely long development cycle that initially started in 2004 and suffered multiple issues that nearly sent the game into development hell. It is also worth mentioning that while LA Noire became a successful cult classic, Team Bondi permanently disbanded soon after the game's release with the rights to LA Noire being held by Rockstar Games as of May 2022.
Story of the game is set in semi-fictional depiction of Los Angeles, California, US during the year of 1947 and follows two protagonists, Cole Phelps and Jack Kelso with Cole being the game's primary protagonist as the game chronicles his rise and fall within the LAPD which he joined soon after returning from the active service in the Pacific Theater of World War 2 with Cole utilizing his sense for justice, keen investigatiory instinct and military-acquired combat proficiency to rise from run-of-the-mill patrolman all the way to navigating the darkest nooks and cranies of the City Of Angels' corrupt underbelly as the detective of Administrative Vice with Cole's motivation for such feat being both his pursuit of personal glory and success and more importantly, desire to find a redemption for crimes committed during his deployment in Pacific Theater.
One night, Cole and his partner named Ralph Dunn are notified about a murder of a man named Scooter Peyton in an alleyway on the corner of Sixth and Industrial Street. Upon getting there, they encounter two homicide department detectives who tell them to locate the murder weapon left somewhere in the alleyway. Cole eventually finds it hoisted up on the nearby rooftop and upon reaching it, discovers that the murder weapon is custom made Smith & Wesson revolver. Deciding to track the weapon's owner down, Cole takes the gun to an nearby gun store, learning that the gun was originally sold to a man named Errol Schroeder. Upon reaching his apartment, Cole and Ralph confront him and try to arrest him when it becomes obvious that his gun is missing, implicating him as the killer. However, Schroeder resists, knocking Ralph out and engaging Cole in a brief fist fight after which he is arrested. While searching his apartment, Cole finds out that Schroeder had a contact with Floyd Rose, one of the detectives present at the scene of Scooter Peyton's shooting. Despite his suspicion, Cole is disuaded from probing too deep into the matter by Ralph as he fears for his career.
Meanwhile, another veteran of Pacific Theater, a young medical student named Courtney Sheldon confides into one of his lecturers, a celebrity psychologist named Harlan Fontaine, telling him about his friend and a fellow soldier who suffers from severe PTSD due to the events of the war and asking him to take the man in as his patient with Fontaine agreeing but warning Courtney that some people with psychological afflictions cannot be helped...
