LA Noire Walkthrough Part 8: A Slip Of The Tongue
After recieving a report that a recently stolen car has been spotted in front of the house in West Second Street, Cole and Stefan head there, only to engage its driver in a brief chase as he tries to evade them. After eventually stopping him, two detectives learn that the driver, a young man named Cliff Harrison, bought the car legitimately through an used car dealership called Coombs Automotive Co. Upon heading there, Cole questions the dealership owner who explains that the car was originally brought in by a woman named Jean Archer in order to be sold and whose alleged adress is located on Freemont Avenue with Cole also noticing that while the car's ownership papers provided by both Harrison and Archer look real, they are forgeries surprisingly enough made by the state's official document issuer, Marquee Printing Company. Deciding to pursue Jean Archer, two detectives head to Freemont Avenue only to discover that the adress is an empty lot, immediately putting up an APB for her. As they prepare to leave, Cole is told that a man named James Belasco was brought into the precinct for questioning due to having possible links with Harrison. Upon returning to the station to interrogate him, Cole and Stefan learn that Belasco has the same fake ownership papers as both Harrison and Archer and pressure him into revealing that him and Archer are involved in a stolen car ring operating all over the United States with fake papers being used to help move the cars over the state lines, this information implying that someone at Marquee Printing Company is involved in the car ring and is providing them with ownership papers. They also learn that the stolen cars are kept in an warehouse in Industrial Street. As they finish the interview, Cole and Stefan are told that Jean Archer has been spotted in an nearby check cashing office. Upon racing there to intercept her, Cole interrogates the woman, confronting her with the fact that her attempt to make money on the side by selling a stolen car through legitimate channels has backfired with Archer also revealing that another person named Bigalow is involved. Afterwards, two detectives head to Marquee Printing Company and interrogate its owner, Gordon Lietvol who claims not to know anything about the car racket despite having Bigalow as a regular customer. After that, they head towards Industrial Street to finally confront the car thieves and Bigalow, being forced to engage them in a shootout during which Bigalow surrenders. While searching his office, Cole finds voided betting slips and a shipment of blank ownership papers signed by Lietvol. Upon interrogating Bigalow, Cole and Stefan learn that Marquee Printing Company has exclusive, high-value contract with the US government to issue all official civilian paperwork within the State Of California but that Lietvol likes to gamble and has been on the losing streak recently, having accrued 20 thousand dollars in gambling debts. In order to pay off his debts, he has gotten involved with Bigalow's car theft ring by providing the car ownership papers used by Bigalow's car mules during transport of stolen vehicles over the state line while also trying to hide the fact that he is in debt from his contractors, aware that they'll terminate his contract if that information were to leak. With that information, Cole and Stefan leave Bigalow to be arrested as they head back to Marquee Printing Company to confront and arrest Leitvol...
