The iconic British automaker is known for its rugged capability, stately styling and refined interiors. And part of that luxury package includes its technology.
The brand's InControl system is the vehicle's information hub. It's nicely designed and easy to use once you get the hang of it. And it's outfitted with a super-fast processor, so it's very quick, a lot like a tablet. There are various InControl features depending on the model and trim level.
Our one gripe with the system is the lack of an oversize touchscreen, which is something you would expect to get from this brand. That's even more reason to opt for the upgraded InControl Touch Pro, which includes more advanced content and a larger 10.2-inch touchscreen.
There's a lot of customization available through InControl. With a tap here and a slide there, you can enhance your driving environment while staying connected to your favorite people, apps and music. You can also adjust climate controls, driving style and ambient lighting with it. Or use driver-aid features like Park Assist.
Once you pair your phone to the multimedia hub, you can access your address book, texts and photos or play videos through the touchscreen or by voice recognition. You can even have separate user accounts and custom home pages if you want a completely different setup than your significant other or teenager.
InControl's navigation guides you through your day via 2D or 3D views. We like that the street view pops up automatically as you get close to your destination.
And use the automaker's Remote and Protect app to stay connected to your vehicle no matter where you are. Worried you left a window down or your doors unlocked? Or maybe you want to remotely start your car and cool it off to a relaxing 68 degrees. Well, that's no problem when you have Remote and Protect.
If you like to travel light, just leave the keys in the car. Thanks to some very cool wearable tech that locks and unlocks the vehicle, just tap and go. There's also a 3G hotspot that can support up to eight devices. And your passengers will love the six USB ports throughout the cabin.
Overall, we think shoppers will find Land Rover's InControl touch feature an easy way to enhance and personalize their day-to-day driving.
