149The 2018 Toyota Camry is all-new. By "all-new," we mean everything ... new platform, new engine, new transmission, new suspension and most obviously, new styling. It's lower, wider, longer and looks so much better than the outgoing model.
As before, there are essentially two different Camry trim lines: the LE/XLE and the SE/XSE. While the SE/XSE models take on a more aggressive look, the less extravagant LE/XLE models are a bit more toned down.
The Camry showcases a sleek, new roof line with a unique kink in its c-pillar. Up front, you'll find a prominent wide-mouth grille opening, as well as standard LED headlights.
In terms of technology, every Camry comes very well-equipped, with standard adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning and lane-departure warning. There's also a new and improved touchscreen interface called Entune3, with quicker responses, improved graphics and bigger icons.
Under the hood, buyers have a choice of three engines, including a new 203-horsepower base 4-cylinder that delivers combined fuel economy of 32 miles per gallon. There's also an available 301-hp V6 and a hybrid powertrain that yields an eye-popping 52 mpg combined. Look out, Prius.
We were impressed that the less-expensive LE model offered a well-designed interior that, in many ways, rivals the uplevel XE. The same goes for the ride and handling experience. Both the LE and the XE offer engaging, well-composed on-road experiences. The Camry has clearly become more of a driver's car than ever before.
Overall, the new 2018 Toyota Camry looks better, drives better and offers more feature content than the previous-generation model. And it's one of the most efficient vehicles in the midsize sedan class. Toyota has indeed put its best foot forward with this offering.
