121Jaguar took a small break from the compact luxury car scene, but they're back with a vengeance. Introducing the 2017 Jaguar XE -- talk about well worth the wait! Jaguar is back in the game, and here are five reasons it's business as usual for the luxury brand.
Sharp Design
Most buyers will really appreciate the beauty Jaguar designers created. The XE has an athletic stance inspired by the thrilling Jaguar F-TYPE. The front boasts a long hood, then moves on to a rising waistline and standard 17-inch alloy wheels. The Prestige trim level we were so fortunate to drive had 18-inchers. Overall, the XE makes onlookers at the valet stand envious.
InControl Interface
Jaguar calls their interface InControl, and we have to say it's fairly easy to use, especially once you get used to it. Coming standard on the base trim level is an 8-in touchscreen, but we had the upgraded 10.2-in screen, which didn't really make a huge difference. That long standard feature list also includes InControl Protect, which has roadside assistance, and InControl Remote, a downloadable App allowing you to do all sorts of cool things from your compatible smartphone.
Performance Options
Let's talk about engine choices, because Jaguar gives you a few to consider. First all, there's a turbodiesel option worth noting. But aside from the diesel, there's a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder making 240 horsepower and labeled the 25T. The other choice is the 35T, which is a powerful supercharged 3.0-liter 340-horsepower V6. All of which make for a fun drive.
Jaguar Comfort
In the back, 6-footers will have ample headroom and legroom. Remember, this is technically a compact luxury sedan, but in the back it felt more midsize than compact. Not to mention the standard dual-zone climate control, which keeps all passengers comfortable. Rear passengers will also enjoy the beautiful, comfortable leather seats, which you can have heated with the Comfort & Convenience package.
Driving Experience
If you ask Jaguar about the XE, they call it a sport sedan, and rightfully so. When you put the JaguarDrive Control selector into Dynamic mode, hold on tight. Keep in mind there's an all-wheel-drive option that's equipped with some innovative technology. The best part is the XE has a great balance for just about any driving situation, whether it be an everyday drive or an aggressive performance-inspired spin around town.
