146Toyota says that they have their most advanced hybrid yet. It's called the Prius Prime, and it's a little different from the normal Prius. Here are five reasons to save big and get into the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime.
Safe and Sound
On the safety front, Toyota gives you their Star Safety System standard, and it has a bundle of six advanced safety features. But you can also get available blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and the innovative Pre-Collision System, which can detect pedestrians and automatically apply the brakes if you don't react in time.
Electric Efficiency
Toyota calls the Prime "a hybrid you can charge," and this is how it works: For the first 20-25 miles, it runs on electric only, using no gas. After the initial electric charge is depleted, you switch to hybrid power. We're talking about a car that's the most efficient in its class, with a total driving range of 640 miles. Longer road trips certainly sound more inviting with the Prius Prime.
Intelligent Technology
Up front, there's a standard 7-inch screen. However, we had the upgraded, massive 11.6-in multimedia touchscreen. This screen works pretty much just like a smartphone: You can pinch and swipe, etc. You can also get innovative adaptive cruise control and a color head-up display which puts some useful info, like energy monitor information, right in your field of view.
Impressive MPG
So when you buy a Prius, we all know that means you're going to get some serious miles per gallon. We're talking 54 mpg combined city and highway when in hybrid mode. Powering the Prius Prime is a 1.8-liter 4-cylinder paired with not one, but two electric motors. The final result produces savings at the pump that are pretty much unbeatable.
Smartphone Compatible
Toyota knows we do everything from our smartphone, so why not connect your car to your phone, too? For the Prius Prime, all you have to do is download the Prime Apps. Then, directly from your compatible smartphone, you can see where there are available charging stations and even locate your car. It also has other impressive functions. For example, you can adjust the climate control directly from the app. So if you encounter a really hot day, you can cool the car down before you enter, and vice versa for winter time.
