Unexplainable. That word sums up the startling, strange, white light that momentarily appeared in my video footage while underground in the abandoned Last Chance Mine. Was it a ghost or a more mundane phenomenon? I'm not sure. One thing I do know for sure is that the massive Last Chance Mine produced over 270,000 tons of tungsten during a thirty year period. This abandoned mine has four or five inter-connected levels and over a mile of tunnels.

Here in Part 1, I team-up with Tom and Julie to explore the main haulage tunnel and some of the branching drift tunnels. Some unusual artifacts we found in this mine were metal ore chutes operated by pistons, an old Iris soda can from the 1970s, and a device that constantly measures and records the humidity level and temperature inside the mine.

Don't miss the sneak-peek previews of exciting scenes from Part 2 at the end of this video!

Part 2, where we climb 300-feet of ladders and explore an extensive upper level, is here: https://youtu.be/nrD60mV5r0k
