About the Analysis Menu
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The Analysis Menu will provide you with many of the features that will contain detailed information about your image. This is the smallest menu on Photoshop but it has many applications. The items in this menu help you take and record measurements.
Set Measurement Scale
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The first option in the Analysis Window is the Set Measurement Scale. Its default setting is one-to-one in its set to pixels. Here you will be able to set a new scale. You may set your scale using the Ruler tool.
For example, in the space provided you may set the logical units to centimeters. Now any time you measure a portion of your image, the units in the top left of the screen in the Control Panel area are going to be shown as centimeters. You may set this to any unit you like, even one that doesn't exist.
Select Data Points
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Next up is Select Data Points. This feature will allow you to control what information you want Photoshop to save. Scroll down this menu and check off any box with information you would like to preserve.
When you are ready to start recording information, simply select the Record Measurements option and the Measurement Log window will appear at the bottom of the screen. Here you will find any measurements you've recorded.
To record a new measurement, make another measurement and select the Record Measurements option a second time. Below these options you will find an area to select the Ruler tool and another for the Count tool. These options can also be accessed through the Tools menu.
Place Scale Marker
---------------------------------------------------------------------
The last option is the Place Scale Marker. This will open a window where you can set text and position options and Photoshop will create a scale graphic on your image.
