In this video, Mahalo expert Justin Z. explains how the Pencil tool is different from the Brush tool.

Pencil Tool
---------------------------------------------------------------------

The Pencil tool is similar to the Brush tool, except it is limited in the way that it looks harder and sharper than brushes. This can be used for making your work look more jagged or for adding a more handwritten style when writing things in. The tool is limited to the imagination, but it has noticeable differences.
1. To access the Pencil tool, press and hold the tool bar icon that looks like a "paintbrush," then access the Pencil Tool in the sub-menu. You can also press and hold Shift+B until the tool cycles to the Pencil. 2. You can click and drag on your image, or use your stylus to create effects that may look similar to a pencil.3. The difference between the Brush and Pencil tool is the Pencil tool has no flow. The stroke you create uses jagged pixels, meaning that it has no "blur" that would simulate a brush stroke.4. You can choose any of the brushes available for the pencil, but they will all look pixelated and jagged.
