2Sentences with "십시오" (sounds like "sibsio" ) at the end of a word show that a sentence is in the formal polite style. This style is typically used for formal and public situations. The reason for using this style was difficult to understand at first because we don't really use it in English, or so I thought. But, imagine you're writing an email to your employer, you're giving a presentation, or speaking to your partner's parents for the first time. We would instinctively try and be more formal or polite, and if we spoke in this manner to our close friends or family, it would seem strange. The same seems to be for Korean and this is when we would use "십시오" to show that we are being formal and polite when we give a command or instruction to do something.
Here are some of the rules for using it:
1. add "십시오" to the end of the word stem.
So when you hear "십시오" know that someone is formally and politely telling you to do something
