Legacy of Kain Dead Sun was a cancelled game in the series which takes place in the future. It was set in the far future of the Legacy of Kain world, long after the events of Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Defiance (2003). Players would control new protagonists Gein, a vampire, and Asher, a human, whose souls became intertwined as they travelled the land of Nosgoth. The problem was that this new game would have rebooted and retconned the series' established mythology, and only utilized returning characters "in the broadest possible terms." Kelion likened its prospective impact on the fiction to that of the Star Trek reboot series. The Hylden do not appear in this story but the Silenced Cathedral from Soul Reaver would reappear. I think that Climax Studios and Square Enix Europe could have easily fixed this problem by rewriting the game's story and characters. They can still keep the graphics and updated it now with the Unreal Engine 5. They can include Raziel, Kain and the elder god again in this new game along with other characters from the series like Ariel, Moebius, Vorador, etc. and just update and upgrade their looks and graphics. I've seen so much fanmade stuff and content that does a really good job at remaking scenes from the games but with newer graphics and design. These fans add so much detail to Raziel and Kain's textures. It really does look next gen and the fans who made these prove that it's possible to make a new Legacy of Kain happen. The dev team and company could have easily incorporated Gein and have their stories crossover and intertwine alongside Raziel and Kain's story without messing up the already established timeline, lore, myth, story and world. Give me the script and I'll write the game's story dialogue and everything if I have to! I'll write a 500 hundred page story if they need material coz my imagination is crazy like that! They can easily bring back the elder god or a new supervillain in the story that will force Gein the new protagonist to join forces with Raziel and Kain. Maybe throw in some human protagonists in there as well to help along. That will keep old fans happy and also introduce a new generation to the series with this new gen Legacy of Kain if done correctly. Just don't alienate the fans and keep this new game a continuation instead of a reboot, restart and reimagined that erases what the past games have already established in the story, universe and lore. If Capcom was able to make Devil May Cry 5 happen with the RE Engine which continues the series after the first four games rather than invalidate and dismiss those games' existence then so can any game company and development team! They need to embrace and love the past rather than erase and forget it. Sadly, the game was cancelled so I don't even know if a new one will happen. I guess it's for the best circumstances that this new game got cancelled because it doesn't acknowledge or validate the previous games and won't be a continuation. I'm still hoping but the problem is that the old voice actors and cast from the original Legacy of Kain series might not be brought back and they'll hire new voice actors. Tony Jay who voiced the elder god from the Legacy of Kain series has passed on and can't voice the elder god but the voice actors Michael Bell who voiced Raziel and Simon Templeman who voiced Kain are still around so maybe they can still contact them and bring them back to voice these beloved game characters.
