Lego Advanced Models The Grand Emporium Modular Building! (Maybe The Best Used Set We've Bought!)
Today we are building the 2010 Lego Modular Building from their Advanced Models line up, the Grand Emporium set #10211, with 2,182 pieces. I begin this video by discussing my modular building line up. It seems such a short time ago I was building my third modular, the new Jazz Club set #10312, and I was wondering how on earth was I going to collect all the Lego modulars. Then I decided to come up with a plan to buy as many as possible, usually 2 at a time for under $800, and then re-strategize from there once I have all the ones I could get. I knew when I was building number 12 the Detectives Office #10246, that this strategy was coming to an end. Anyway, with building 13, the Grand Emporium, after a string of bad deals, we decided to slightly increase the used modular budget to hopefully dodge any more "hard to save" buildings. By doing this we got this set for about $40 less then others that are online and is marketed as complete, and excellent condition. For the Grand Emporium, this is one set that I have had a long interest in, not only is it another Jamie Berard building, but it had some cool features not seen in other buildings for the time and after. Looking in the box we received the set in, we see the prior owner did an awesome liberty of bagging all the pieces by color, and the set was rather clean. I decided skip the wash job on this set, and sort our pieces, and got to work. Now done, we review the set, and we see the exterior is nicely detailed, but the inside is a bit bare. We do see the cool features mentioned before with the escalator, rotating door, and the billboard on the roof. Yes, its an older set that leaves a bit to be desired internally, but I really love these old modular building, as they are from a different time period in lego. I do recommend this set for any collector, and currently it is still feasible as far as price. I wrap up this video with pairing it next to its neighbor the Detectives office so we can get a first glance out how this is going to integrate. As always please comment your thoughts down below.
