Also known as Sidewinder F in Japan.
Lethal Skies opts for a more ‘realistic’ flight model and small scale scenarios, but it’s ultimately still just an Ace Combat clone. As you might expect with a clone, it does some things wrong and it ends up being a pretty frustrating experience as a result.
This is a PS2 game and PS2 emulation is rife with issues that will never, ever be fixed. You will see some oddities. It’s out of my hands.

As always, I dislike flying in third person and so I use the cockpit view. Really don’t care how you feel about this, I’m playing the game here. Feel free to click off if this is a problem.
This is a somewhat obscure game and thus information is in short supply. I don’t bother going for S ranks on every mission because what even are the requirements? Hell if I know. It’s not always destroy x targets or complete in x time. Plus, I can’t tell if wingman kills count against you or not. If they do, then that introduces more RNG into a game with already plenty of RNG with enemy chaff/flare usage and I simply cannot be bothered.
My opinion of this game went from “This is alright” to “This is kinda bad” after mission 10 and then to “I hate this” during mission 15.
Mission 10: My allies get wiped out by normal helicopters. Helicopters. Bro.
Mission 15: You have to shoot down the mega-helicopter in order to S rank most likely. I think it’s the second worst designed enemy I’ve ever encountered in these kinds of games, so I don’t bother. The worst being the final boss of Ace Combat Joint Assault.
Mission 17: Props for attempting a mid-air tunnel run but tucking the core between the supports makes it pretty much certain death trying to fly through to hit it. I crash and still complete the mission and I don’t care. I just wanted it done.
Mission 18: This is just an awful mission. Not only do you have to deal with that stupid mega-helicopter, there is a lot of RNG involved with enemy attacks on the base and you can just fail the mission at basically any point after the helicopter shows up.
Realistic missile capacity while trying to copy Ace Combat really doesn't work.
