Let's A-GO Faster In Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on Switch
37When it comes to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, there are a number of different options and ways to try to find speed and go fast. Sometimes it's finding shortcuts on a track. Sometimes it's getting a blue shell at just the right time to take out your friend, or foe. But when it comes down to it, getting the right kart, tires, character, and glider can make all the difference in the world. So here's my current setup for MK8 Deluxe, and why I chose this:
Character:
Funky Kong
Anytime you go with a "super heavyweight", you have some tradeoffs. Larger characters, such as Donkey Kong, Funky Kong, King Koopa, and King Boo, tend to have great top speed. However, there's always a balance, so that top speed comes at the cost of acceleration. I've found that Funky Kong has better acceleration than the others, while still having the top speed I want.
Chassis:
Teddy Buggy:
It looks goofy. I feel ridiculous driving it. But the Teddy buggy is legit! It is fast, it handles well, it doesn't get pushed around the track and overall I find myself being more consistent with it. It would be fun if you Change the color of the bear, but whatever, it's still fast!
Tires:
Roller
You would think that the larger the tire the more traction and improved handling you would have. I've found the opposite to be true and the Roller tires are way better than they deserve to be. The smaller tires spool up faster for better acceleration, plus they have great traction and grip.
Glider:
I've found the gliders don't make a ton of difference to the handling, but there's a slight difference. AS such, I lean more on aesthetics than anything else, and I like the looks of the Gold Glider. Sue me.
I've found this to be my current favorite setup in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and it just works for me. Let me know what setup you're using and finding speed with in the comments!
