I debated whether or not I was actually going to produce this as a video, as a short, or if I would just let it lie. I, however, cannot just let this lie as I was floored when I saw our local GameStop is now only open 6 hours a day 7 days a week. Yet another fail from Gamestop, and at this point why don't they just shut it down?

Here's a little backstory, and backstory about this specific store. I've praised this location for being a good GameStop store in the past. I've talked about how the former manager, Mitch, ran an amazing store with a great crew. They called me the day before PlayStation 5 pre-orders opened up to let me know to come in and pre-order if I wanted one. They had their customer service down pat. And now, the way this store is trending, this store is a pit.

In 2023, I posted a video about how this particular location first claimed that they did not receive their PlayStation portal shipment, they couldn't find their PlayStation portal shipment, and eventually admitted that the box had been sitting in the back room for several days. They just didn't feel like unpacking the shipment. I will have that video for you right here:

Well, I thought it was curious that I had not received a phone call to let me know that my Nintendo World Championships NES Edition for the Nintendo Switch was ready for pickup. I decided to swing by the store after work on a Friday night to pick up my pre-order. I pulled up to the store at about 6:40 p.m. only to find all the gates were down. The doors were locked. There wasn't anybody in the store. When I looked at the door I discovered the new store hours.

12PM - 6PM, Sunday-Saturday. You have got to be kidding me.

Listen, I've worked retail. I've worked retail when my store was extremely short-staffed. At one point in the late '90s I worked almost 3 months every day open to close at my RadioShack store because I didn't have another key holder because my district manager at the time sucked. I understand GameStop is short-staffed, but at the same time, they are now not even open 32 hours a week. If someone worked every day open to close 6 days a week they would still only be working 36 hours. As it is, the store is only open 42 hours a week. How does something like this happen? How does one of the best stores in the area go to become one of the worst stores in the area?

I know it's fun to look at GameStop and buy and sell the stock. I have friends who do this on the regular. They do this with AMC as well. The fact that you cannot have a physical store location open past 6:00, when most people work till at least 4:00, tells me you have a more significant problem going on with your business.

I'm truly sad to see this happen to this location, as I mentioned it used to be exceptional. Now it is actually worse than all of the stereotypes you hear about GameStop. But let me know in the comments if your stores started operating under reduced hours? Did you get a notification that your Nintendo World Championships NES Edition was ready for pickup? I didn't.
