Let's Challenge Super Mario 64 (Closeup Run) - Part 2: Ice and...BOWSER ALREADY?!?!?
I still don't know what to do about the Hyphy Movement, the San Francisco Bay Area residents who prove that it doesn't deserve to be called the "Yay Area", the shallow girls who would say "wanna suck my pee" just to mock me, and the Oakland rioters. But remember that surprise I mentioned in the outro of my Battalion Wars LP? Well, this is the surprise. I am going through Super Mario 64 with the camera set to close up as frequently as possible. And I have to thank MarioMastar for his LP inspiring me to get this off the ground. He knows quite a bit about the game--both the N64 version and the DS version. So consider checking his LP out. As for the challenge itself? I actually did this when I was young and the game was less than 3 years old. So far, it's not proving easy, but so it goes. (And I'd do the courses in order if not for worries about creating filler time spent on gathering 1-Ups.)
I continue working on Cool Cool Mountain. Cool Cool Mountain, in case you couldn't guess, is an ice area where you can mainly descend but not ascend....but you can use a warp to fix that. Naturally, ice being around means you could have problems with traction.
Though it takes some doing, CCM for the most part is cleaned out--just one star remaining--and I have enough stars to go through the big star door leading to....BOWSER! ALREADY!!!!
Well, first, we'd have to go through an obstacle course called Bowser in the Dark World, which is straightforward, though the first two red coins are by far the most bothersome because of what you'd have to do to grab them both. Nevertheless, I grab all 8 red coins and then take on Bowser.
The strategy for Bowser is to grab his tail then swing him around until you can toss him right toward a bomb. The game points this out THREE times to avoid making this a Guide Dang It because it's quite possible to have played Mario games before Super Mario 64 came out without being aware that Bowser even has a tail any more than he has red hair.
After Bowser is bombed--ONCE no less--he declares that he's merely been set back and will eventually pwn Mario. Mario gets a key for reward.
We will see what it does some time soon.
