If you thought the relatively simple plan of ‘sail away from an island’ couldn’t get any more complicated than it already has done, you have no idea the lengths that some campaigns will go to railroad you in the right direction of the plot. As much as we try to avoid heading into the Underdark, the story isn’t flexible enough to let you skip a sizeable portion of the game. While this is good as the Underdark is a pretty interesting place to explore, it’s also bad because the Underdark is a very dangerous place to explore, but we’ll talk about that place another time.

Our efforts to avoid using the portal aren’t entirely without merit however, for doing this allows to visit an entirely optional part of the game that’s just as interesting as the Underdark, if not more so. It’s also full of peril, loot and puzzles to solve and while that’s par for the course in this game, some of the treasure is very useful indeed, including the other half of a magical weapon that we want to assemble.

You may be wondering whether the further complications mentioned in the title of this video are caused in some way by Saemon. The answer is yes to nearly all of them, which should come as no surprise to anyone by now.
