Let’s Play Black Mesa #16: Another Problem, Another Generator
This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
In the original Half-Life, it was rare for you to have uninterrupted forward progress for long on account of the facility still reeling from the effects of the Resonance Cascade. If it's not collapsed roofs, blocked doors or large, gaping holes in walkways, then it's the power being knocked out to something essential. We've already seen the power being out be used for one puzzle - activating the rocket in the testing area - but the game is far from done with throwing that spanner in the works. It's a good thing getting them working again only requires pressing buttons, flipping switches and the occasional plug to plug in.
Unfortunately for us, the scientist who assured us that there'd be no marines this deep in the facility was wrong. They're certainly being thorough but these tunnels are often narrow and cramped, meaning there aren't that many places for them to take cover. Of course, this means there isn't much cover for us either but we can always backtrack to places where there is some. Failing that, we have a handy sidearm that should do a good job of taking care of them, provided of course that I can aim.
