Let’s Play Black Mesa #14: And We Have Ignition
196This is a blind playthrough. Kindly avoid posting spoilers in the comments or solutions to puzzles either in this video or future ones so as not to spoil the experience for me or those that haven’t seen the game before.
We’ve managed to activate one of the two systems needed to get the rocket to work but we’re far from out of the woods yet. Not only will there be many aliens between us and the switches we need to press but we also have to get past the thing that’s caused us all these problems to begin with, the huge alien with many appendages that love to cause lots of noise and poke huge holes in people. Our method of sneaking past it before – staying crouched and throwing grenades to distract it – will hopefully get us back to the panel controlling the rocket once we restore power to it and then we’ll just need to press one button to get rid of it. That’s the hope, at least.
Provided that works, we’ll be able to go even further into the earth to reach the old tunnels we were told about that’ll get us to lambda team, the people most likely to know of a way to close the resonance cascade and stop the alien invasion. To say that it’s a long shot and that much peril still awaits us is an understatement but our only other alternative is to try and fight our way past countless marines or simply give up and accept that we’re doomed, something I know Gordon Freeman would never do. I’d like to think that the game will cut us some slack after defeating this huge alien but I know better than to expect leniency, especially now that we’re well and truly out of the early game, so instead I’ll simply hope that we can handle what’s thrown at us.
