217The obelisks of light are not without their disadvantages. They are vulnerable to airstrikes and the ion cannon can obliterate them. They can also be overwhelmed by a swarm of infantry as they can't focus on more then one foe at a time. While the latter can be countered with a flame tank or two and the airstrikes can be lessened with SAM sites, the ion cannon is trickier; if you can knock out their advanced communication centre you can buy yourself some time but they're typically heavily guarded.
We don't have much to worry with against the CPU however; their assaults tend not to be too numerous and the tanks are mopped up very nicely by the obelisks. It seems little can stop NOD and by extension, Kane from achieving his goals...
