A few questions spring to mind when a lost city is mentioned in any fantasy setting. In fact, this musing applies to lost continents and even planets in science fiction.

How does one go about losing track of a city?

It's not going anywhere - unless it can fly, accidentally got teleport to another time or place or was on an asteroid that's been knocked out of orbit - and it's not like maps will suddenly no longer show that the place is there. If it was abandoned or the population were all wiped out somehow, you'd be better off describing as abandoned or cursed or something else rather then lost. 'Lost' places inevitably end up being 'found' by someone, usually the main character or people connect to the central plot. It might be better to call them 'will-inevitably-be-rediscovered' places, but that's not as punchy a title I suppose.

One thing's for sure, if you ever need a lost city finding send Everhail to look for it; chances are Nemesis will be hiding somewhere nearby anyway and it'll be on his way. He may not even charge you gold if you offer him some cure potions to help him on his way.
