This is the ninth of a series of doing Let's Plays on "classic games." Classic games in this sense are, pretty much whatever I consider a classic, usually old and becoming somewhat obscure but trend setting games.

In Japan, Dragon Warrior is known as Dragon Quest, and it in fact overshadows Final Fantasy in terms of popularity as a series. This is somewhat the opposite of the USA where Final Fantasy is more popular. This is the first Dragon Warrior game ever released as far as I know for the NES. It is a trendsetting game in that it establishes many of the hallmarks of the (J)RPG genre.

This video features me south of Garinham (over the bridge and past the cave with the Figher's Ring) gaining at least a level before I return to Tantegel Castle where I rest and save. Then back off to Garinham to go into the Grave where I died before. I've got something to recover. Once I obtain the Silver Harp from under Garinham, I go northwest of Kol to a cave where an old man let's me gain access to the Staff of Rain, now that I have the Harp. These are a key item. Once I have the Staff of Rain I must go to Tantegel Castle and retrieve the Stones of Sunlight in the cellar. That's accessible to the right of the castle, tucked away. Then it's back to the Grave of Garinham where I level up a bit. Finally I exit the dungeon and buy a bunch of herbs.
