Let's Play Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex - Part 16: You're a Real Gem
Now that we've beaten the game, it's time for some cleanup. In this case, I actually did quite a few alternate routes through levels during the first go-round, so we mainly just have the three remaining gem pathways to take care of, the yellow, red, and green ones. The yellow gem route is in level 5, during the mine cart section, and is the odd one out due to being the only gem route—or alternate path in general—to take place during a vehicle segment (unless you count the mech from level 17). It's full of Nitros and requires either memorization, good reaction time, or just dying enough to get a free Aku Aku. The red gem route is in level 8 and is easily one of the harder ones in the game along with the blue one. The last part involving bouncing around Nitros is especially tricky, and I'm still not sure how you're supposed to avoid the first group of Nitros unscathed, unless they actually expect you to time a jump onto one of the fish. (Apparently, some versions of the game had 2 blocks in between the crates instead of just 1, which would have been a considerable improvement.) The green gem route, found in level 25, is kind of an extension of the main level like the purple one was, but this one is much more interesting. It's also pretty hard, though if you can handle the main level, this shouldn't be too much of a problem. There's a long bridge of Nitros that requires the bazooka and tornado spin, though the sneak shoes might work (but would be way slower). After that, the only remaining gems are in the secret warp room, plus one extra one that I think is obtained from either getting everything else or getting all gold Relics, but I'm not sure.
