Let's Play Doom 64 #34: The Super Duper Bonus Level
We've finished both the base campaign and the new one, but there's one more challenge awaiting us and it's a 'warp to fun' level. Yes, they added one more level of crazy silliness and to say that it's difficult is an understatement, but I'm not about to back down now.
Bring it, Doom 64.
Doom 64 had a learning curve to it that mostly came about from its different tickrate. The slower pace of action makes dodging all the more precarious and the slightly reduced roster meant we saw more of other threats than we did in previous entries. It was spot on with the gameplay, however, being the same Doom fare that I've come to love over the years and the atmosphere, oh the atmosphere. It was just top notch and I wouldn't change a thing about that. A few more levels would've been nice, but that's a minor complaint that has likely been solved by many, many WAD creators over the years. All in all, if you want some more classic Doom fare, look no further than this entry in the series.
So, what's next? With Lil Gator done, we need another game of adorableness to take up the mantle and while the new one isn't as wholesome or silly, it has its own charm and epicness about it that will certainly give you paws for thought on why I didn't start this quest many years ago. Who knows, it might not the only one in the series that I end up checking out.
See you next let's play!
