Let's Play Doom 64 - Part 4 - Main Engineering
Map 3, Main Engineering introduces two new weapons and four new enemy types to our humble space marine. Right in the first room, we are blessed with the best and most utilitarian weapon in the game, the super shotgun. It has the stopping power of a rocket blast up close and with a backpack can be shot 50 times with maximum ammo, The other new weapon is the rocket launcher - have to be careful with this one due to the obligatory splash damage the rocket detonations create.
Of the new enemies, the Nightmare Imp is the only one that is original to Doom 64. It's basically a translucent blue imp that fires quicker fireballs - not a big deal. The other returning stars from previous Doom outings include the Lost Soul (the flaming skulls), the Specter (invisible pink demons), and Cacodemons.
Cacodemons got a bit of a redesign for Doom 64. Unlike their PC brethren, these Cacos have two working arms (with shackles), brown skin (like the original Pain Elementals), and a single eye. Also, the Doom 64 versions don't bleed blue blood. There's a lot more to say about Cacodemons, but I'll save that for another video.
