Let's Play Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D! Part 13 - Ending the Archfiend
Apologies for missing last week's upload. I was feeling sick and since I didn't record, I didn't want to upload, either.
To begin today we take to the air to find those plateaus and other locations that we couldn't previously reach in search of treasures and friendly monsters. It doesn't take us long to run out of these locations to check, so we move on to the last places we haven't gone to, yet: Pit of Giaga, and Baramos's Castle. The dialogue that I skipped over that the guard at the Pit says mentions using an Angel Bell or hitting someone to cure confusion.
Anyways, Baramos's Castle. It's a maze of stairways that kind of interconnect, though there's only the one real path to the end. There's several very good treasures to find, and a single friendly monster to recruit outside on the grounds of the place. We wind our way around until finally reaching the stairs down into Baramos's inner sanctum. Baramos himself is no joke. He's got strong spells and annoying abilities, and it's a bit of a slog to fight, especially with a Goof-Off in the party.
Baramos is surprisingly able to be put to sleep, however, and so Videl had a golden opportunity to do an amazing amount of damage via Persecutor, aided by Oomph and Egg On. It did 2,505 damage! That took a significant chunk of health off of Baramos which would have taken a lot longer to deal with otherwise. Also, Pomni came through with some truly timely Hustle Dances. A second bout of sleep allows me to Persecutor one last time for 1,150 damage to finally kill Baramos.
Well, we did it. That it, right? Oh. I guess not. Well, we get some rest and see that a new place has opened up to us. Welcome to the Dragon Queen's Castle. Here we meet the dying Dragon Queen, who gifts us with a Ball of Light, then dies as she lays an egg. This place is also teeming with friendly monsters; there's three of them to find here, at three different times of day.
