Let's Play Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D! Part 9 - Orb Hunt
To start with I need to clarify that this video has undergone some audio processing after recording. At this point I have not changed any settings with my mic, so you might hear more incidental noises that you wouldn't have otherwise heard. The next two episodes will also likely have this but after that you likely won't hear it again.
ANYWAYS. We left off exploring the island where Lancel was located. We're still exploring the world for treasure, monsters, and new locations. After Lancel we happen upon a large frozen island whereupon sits a shrine to Ramia, a bird that hasn't hatched yet. This would appear to be where the orbs go. Next we roam around some more before happening upon a shrine containing a dwarf that apparently knew dear old dad. We get a flashback and then take the time to explore this part of the landmass. Several treasures, lots of Metal Slimes, and... Yggdrasil, is that you?! With this done we sail north to another large frozen island containing just one landmark: a house in a green patch of the snowy land. This place has a bunch of treasures and a monster to recruit as well.
It's finally time to move the plot along. We head to the islands far to the east of Baharata where the people speak in haiku and ritually sacrifice young girls to a giant five-headed dragon. Wait, this sounds bad! We explore and find a couple monsters and a girl hiding from the dreaded Orochi. Well, perhaps we should do something about this!
Outside Jipang is a cave containing the monster Orochi. This is a fairly short dungeon, so it doesn't take us too long to find it. Orochi herself isn't extremely difficult so despite how much hype the villagers applied to this monster we manage to take it down and steal its sword at the same time! This is a nice blade as using it in battle reduces the defense of a group of monsters, making it invaluable for boss battles.
Of course, this isn't the end, as a portal opens up behind where Orochi was, and we jump in before it closes. This takes us to Queen Pimiko's palace gates. Huh, that's suspicious. We heal up and head inside to find the queen injured. Huh, that's suspicious. The queen speaks to us telepathically and asks us to leave her be, but no, we aren't doing that. So she transforms into Orochi right there and we must fight her again. This is about the same kind of fight as last time, so we employ much of the same strategies to kill it again. This awards us the Purple Orb! Two down!
Of course, we get another useless cutscene from mysterious dream voice, and then can move on our way. Recetteburg has advanced with the acquiring of another Orb, so we head back to look at them and see how things are going. Once done, we head back to Tedanki as it's time to ask that dead prisoner for his Orb. Of course, it's not that simple; this remake adds a brand new boss fight for us! It's not truly that difficult, but it's a weird formation and the flames can call allies that make this fight take much longer. We get through it, though, and our reward is the Green Orb. That's three!
