The party have had their fair share of people telling them lies within Darkmoon and the deceit began before they’d even entered. First it was the old woman who lied about the evil that was occurring, then it was the two priests in the entrance area who pretended not to know about Amber. Since then, the group have had to contend with visions in various tests and traps which tell them one thing when you should actually do the other thing. From time to time they mix things up most deviously, presuming the person hearing their words will second guess them based on their previous experiences and end up going against advice that’s actually truthful. Then there was the beholder the group rescued whose intent was purely malicious and hostile. That’s not to say that everyone is out to trick the group, as they’ve met many people who’ve been helpful in one way or another, but by now they’re certainly on their guard.

Dran Dragore would like nothing more then for the group to go away and leave him to his evil scheming. They’re too persistant to be encouraged to just give up their quest and so far, his and the temple’s efforts to eradicate Valendra and the party have proven less then effective. While he could just appear before them and fight them himself, he’s likely got other things to do and there’s always the small chance that the interlopers will find a way to defeat him and that just wouldn’t do. Perhaps there’s an angle that hasn’t been tried yet, one that might just work if done properly...
